Objective / Purpose

This position plays a pivotal role in leading The Kessler Collection’s online presence across the digital and social media landscape. The Director of Social Media and Digital Content will be responsible for shaping the social media strategy and driving engagement across all Kessler Collection social media channels at the brand, property, and F&B outlet levels. In addition, this role will oversee content across our digital properties and web sites, including managing our channels and relationship with Marriott to ensure accuracy of brand standards, alignment and consistency. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling, digital marketing and brand management.

Areas of Responsibility (AOR)

Primary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to the following:

Social Media Strategy

  • Develop and implement social media architecture, strategies and editorial across all Kessler channels to enhance brand visibility, engagement and growth across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other emerging platforms).

Content Creation and Social Execution

  • Oversee the creation, curation and management of high qualify, on-brand, engaging content that aligns with our brand voice and objectives for social media and digital channels. This includes paid media, written, visual and video content.

Content Management

  • Oversee team to ensure digital platforms are up to date and correct with recent photography, content and up to date information.
  • Oversee audits to ensure accuracy across channels.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Monitor, analyze and report on social media performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize and improve future initiatives.

Asset Management:

  • Lead and manage all property and F&B photography, video and assets.
  • Partners with brand team for larger brand initiatives and partnerships.
  • Oversee Internal management of Kessler’s photography and video assets within the Digital Asset Management system; as well as distribution to approved vendors and partners.
  • Partner with Director of Brand Marketing and Integrated Media to direct, produce and oversee photographer sourcing, shot list creation, styling and organization of all property and F&B photoshoots.

Email Marketing

  • Develop comprehensive customer journey and oversee CRM management in partnership with Director of Brand Marketing and Integrated Media.
  • Digital Magazine/Blog
  • Partner with internal teams to launch effective newsletter content to drive customer loyalty and demand.

Influencer Partnerships

  • Identify, engage and collaborate with influencers to amplify our brand messaging and reach new audiences.
  • Utilize partnerships for additional needed local content. 
  • Partner with PR for editorial as well as paid opportunities.

Collaboration

  • Work with VP, Marketing and Sales, PR and brand to ensure key strategies and messaging are pulled through to all digital and social channels for promotions, brand campaigns and partnerships.

Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of social media managers, content creators, and experts to create social content, manage and grow platforms, monitor brand health, ROI and engagement, and report out on KPIs. 
  • Lead efforts for on-property integration with GMs and local teams.

Additional items

  • Evaluate trends, assess new data and keep up to date with the latest marketing technique
  • As with any position, the tasks and responsibilities may differ from time to time as the role develops. The ultimate responsibility will require the incumbent to stay on top of the needs of the brand, properties and outlets to create strategies that create awareness and ROI.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervisory and leadership responsibilities include achieving results through providing direction and accountability of the following Grand Performers within the culture and policies established by the Kessler Collection.

  • Social Media Manager
  • Social Media Content Strategist
  • Digital Content Coordinator

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education, License, Certifications, Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or related field –required
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in hotel and/or restaurant brands overseeing social media–required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing teams. –required
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful social media strategies and digital campaigns –required
  • Experience in the Upper Upscale/Luxury Hospitality/Tourism industry – required
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint – required
  • Skilled in the use of Adobe applications, including Photoshop and Illustrator - required

 

Work Environment / Conditions

The work environment/conditions described herein are representative of those that an incumbent may experience.

  • Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, without the use of a private office.
  • Must be able to cope with frequent changing priorities and deadlines with a high degree of optimism, professionalism & collaboration.
  • Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
  • This position requires travel up to 30% of the time. Specific details outlined by direct supervisor.
